One-to-one tutoring

In rural areas of Jamaica, many schools face a lack of teaching resources and staff. Teachers often have overcrowded classrooms, making it difficult to provide individual support to students who are struggling.

Located in the heart of the community of Treasure Beach, Sandy Bank Primary School is a primary school that welcomes around 80 students aged between 6 and 12. It includes several classrooms, a canteen, a library and an outdoor space for sports.

By getting involved with this school, you will provide academic support to students who need it most. It is also an opportunity to experience a Jamaican school from the inside, build connections with people you would not normally meet, learn through observation and, more broadly, take part in a meaningful and enriching human experience.

Please note: if you do not feel very confident in English but would still like to offer academic support, we recommend getting involved with Sandy Bank Infant School, which welcomes children aged 3 to 6. It will be easier for you to help them with basic learning exercises in language and maths.
