Planning your stay

My Jamrock Project takes care of organising your stay, from accommodation and transport to your volunteer project. A dedicated contact person is available at all times to guide you, support you whenever needed, assist with organising your excursions and ensure your stay unfolds just as you wish. This level of support allows you to enjoy your experience with complete peace of mind and guarantees a safe environment, especially if you are travelling on your own.

Accomodation

My Jamrock Project is located in the bay of Billy’s Bay, just a five-minute drive from the well-known village of Treasure Beach. Known for its safety and peaceful atmosphere, Treasure Beach lies by the sea in the parish of Saint Elizabeth, on the south coast of the island. Unlike more developed destinations such as Montego Bay or Negril, Treasure Beach remains untouched by mass tourism and has preserved a truly local and intimate feel.

You stay in a guesthouse called “Irie Rest”, run by Leny, who was born and raised in Treasure Beach. Irie Rest is just a two-minute walk from Billy’s Bay beach, which is quiet and uncrowded for most of the time. A small supermarket is located at the end of the street, making it easy to pick up everyday essentials.

You have your own private room with an en-suite bathroom equipped with hot water, although hot water may occasionally be unavailable in certain circumstances. A shared space with a kitchen, dining area and living room is available for your use. The accommodation also includes Wi-Fi.

Transport

Daily transport between your accommodation and your volunteer project is provided by the local contact from My Jamrock Project. This service is included in the price you have paid.

Transport for excursions in the afternoons and at weekends is arranged on a case-by-case basis with different providers and is not included in the price.

Meals

No meal plan is included in the price, giving you the flexibility to organise your meals as you wish.

You can cook your own meals in the kitchen available to you, or buy food from a “cook shop”, meaning small local takeaway spots. If you are looking for a more dining-style experience, we will be happy to recommend the many restaurants in Treasure Beach. You can also ask Pauline, the housekeeper at the guesthouse, to prepare a meal for you.

If you would like to include a meal plan in your stay, this can of course be arranged. Just let us know.

Flights

Flights are not included in the price, as they depend on where you are travelling from, the time of year and when they are booked. However, we remain available to recommend the best options based on current prices.

Visa

If your nationality requires a visa to enter Jamaica, you will need to complete the process directly with the embassy or consulate in your country of origin. We can of course support you with these steps and provide any necessary documents.

Insurance

You are required to take out health insurance that covers medical expenses in case of illness or injury, as well as emergency cover including 24/7 assistance and repatriation to your country of origin if necessary.

You are also required to take out travel insurance that includes cover for cancellation or interruption, allowing reimbursement of expenses incurred, as well as third-party liability cover in case of accidental damage or injury to others. We also recommend having cover for your luggage and personal belongings in case of loss or theft.

We will ask you to provide proof of these coverages to confirm your registration.
